Focus is not sitting still. It is the brain choosing when to go and when to stop, and today's two games practise exactly that.
Spin + Stop Attention BuilderSpin and freeze on cue to train focus, balance, and quick body-brain response time.Freeze Dance with CommandsDance, freeze, and follow movement commands to build self-regulation and auditory control.
5 minutes
Now play it together.
Clear a little floor space where nobody can bump into furniture.
Spin and stop, 2 minutes. Spin slowly. When you call "Stop!", freeze and hold the pose for three seconds.
Freeze dance, 2 minutes. Put on a song and dance. When the music stops, freeze, then follow a command: touch your nose, stand on one foot, reach for the sky.
Swap roles, 1 minute. Let your child give the commands while you follow.
Clear a safe space first, and stop any move that hurts.
What to notice
Watch for these today.
How quickly do they freeze on cue?
Can they hold still for a full three seconds?
Is it easier by the end than it was at the start?
The why, in about a minute
The Body Gives the Brain Its Map
A short lesson from Mandie on what today's moves do for a growing brain. It's from our free course, The Science of Imagery.
Tomorrow, Day 4
